The Supposed Last Day at the Pool...

Dawn text us all a picture of a pretty empty pool so we were excited to find not very many people there still.  There were a few different lifeguards and everyone was pretty chill... hanging out in the water and just playing around...

We were swimming and I thought if he's going to be able to go on anything today's the day to try.  I told Luke do you want to go and see if you can go on the slide?  Liv escorted him up there after saying he's not tall enough to go and they aren't going to let him...

But I asked Luke and he said yes and got out of the pool and started walking up the stairs with some encouragement from our crew.  As he was walking up the stairs the lifeguard tried to catch him to tell him he couldn't do it... but he kept walking up and eventually understood he couldn't... so he came back down not hurt just said she said I couldn't...

Lindy said Luke why don't you go do the swim test... and so he turned back around and walked over to the swim test area.  I was slightly nervous that he wouldn't make it and then be disappointed because Luke is a funny swimmer. He is safe and won't die... but he sure doesn't always look like it.  Especially when he doesn't want to... when he's ready to swim he looks great... other times he just floats on his belly and thinks he's going to get somewhere.

So... with some encouragement and help the lifeguard realized that he was ready to do the swim test... Because no one was there the lifeguard was already in the water swimming around and Luke jumped right in and swung his arms and kicked his legs like he could swim... and he did... he swam to me under the rope and I gave him a push back.  He did great.

He went over to get his wristband....

Coach Alex is so nice and came down to help him put it on.

and then he was ready... Hunter and Liv were jumping into the deep end from the side before and after Luke went... Camilla just watched.... He waited for the life guard thumbs up to get on the board...

Hunter jumped in at the same time...

and he swam all the way to the side... with all the kids and the lifeguard hanging out in the deep end.

Then he came over to show us his wrist band...
after he got his wristband the cute girl lifeguard from up top told Liv he can come on the slide now if he wants- he passed the swim test so that's fine.  So we told him after he came over and he went right up...

This is what he looks like half the time.. just hanging out in the water... he is great at treading because of it.

Camilla made sure to go with Luke the first time on the slide.

and then down he came...

and his smile was so big....

He had an order... diving board... then slide... then come talk to me and swim across the little catch area and go back to the diving board and start again.

He even did the orange slide and to the girls disbelief didn't even scream or make any sound.... he also like flipping around on his belly on it.

Back and back... each time after the first time I had to tell him to hurry and swim to the side... he would just doddle and float and lay around... fine.. just slow.  Some of the lifeguards would offer him the floatie and reach it out... each time a lifeguard did this he would swim directly around it not taking their help.  We laughed every time he did that.

Just talking with the group about what we're going to do....

Tuck dive.. a new one for this year.

On the way home he said "I'm going to keep my wristband on forever!"  When he was going to bed he asked Chad to take it off.  Chad told him that it would be trash then... he changed his mind... until the next morning and decided he would just go again and get another one.

Our crew was so happy and proud of Luke and continued to tell him and the other moms.  After such a good day at the pool we all decided to hurry open house along and come to the pool after on Friday for our last day of the pool.
