Camilla's baptism was at 11:30 in the morning which is noteworthy. We are grateful the Connell's were kind enough to help us move it. Which worked out perfectly.
We were talking to the Connells for a minute and Camilla spotted Vicki and Grandma and Grandpa Webb. She made a run for it. Grandma had called me a little before and said is the church really that far? ha.. yes.
We were so excited to see our Vicki.
We took one family picture... and this is it.
We after seeing some more people come in we went into change. She took a look at the font and stairs and was ready.
Sister Connell saved the new bright one for her.
The primary gave her a pretty white towel with her name on it... she used it to get dry and warm after she was baptized.
Ready in white.
Dylan saw the invitation and promptly got off work so that he could be there to see Camilla baptized. Pretty sweet.
The Olsen crew.
The baptism was beautiful and had an extra sweet spirit. 8 minutes before we were to start Grandpa Great called me from his house and said have you had a baptism yet? I said no not yet... whats going on? He said well I tried to come but couldn't find it.. so I told him we would send someone. I went to Gary Webb and asked if he could go get Grandpa, and Lani was kind enough to volunteer and went to pick him up. Since our church is so far we stalled a bit and Bishop was great. We figured if we started a bit later that we could be right on time with their arrival.
So we started and it was sweet. Then we got to the baptism part of the program and had the girls sing their song before instead. I really wanted to take a picture at this point because Camilla was wearing her white jumpsuit-- backstory... I sang at my baptism with a few girls but refused to sing before because I would not sing in the jumpsuit. So as they walked up there with no problem I laughed a little. They sang well and then we still needed a little more time. Grandma started playing "I am a Child of God" and Bishop suggested that we sing so I stood up and led and we sang that and "I'm Trying to be like Jesus" which made it even better. Then Lani and Grandpa made it so it was time to continue.
We walked in and Camilla walked right in and down the stairs. At this font we could see Chad across the way and so they smiled after getting out. We had brought the hand warmers but the one wouldn't stay on while she changed so we just wrapped towels... it worked later when she tried it during eating cookies. Chad was kind enough to wait a minute for us too.
Chad and Camilla walked in and I followed a bit.... and then she was confirmed. Also noteworthy.... Brandon and Jeff were added to the circle which was a special addition. One hand or two Bishop? Chad had told us earlier that it was going to be a long one... "I've tried to cut it but it just isn't happening." Then we sang and prayed and went for the cookies.
Camilla and Dylan.
Grandpa Great.... was a witness and helped confirm Camilla.
Emma Willey.
Erin McDonald.
Our little swim crew. They were so excited to see each other.
Camilla voted the chocolate chip the best.
Saphira and Camilla.
Dawn and Lindy... back in the summer they had already said "You better invite us to your baptism!"
Lindy said Luke gave me a high five- "He can use the mister all summer long!" ha.
another cookie.... Grandpa Webb said the closing prayer.
Kristie was a witness and is also Camilla's primary teacher which is extra fun for cousins.
Sister Holley from the stake.
Bishop Anderson was great and this was his first baptism.
We told him we will take another one in 5 years and see how we fare.
We were all excited that Jeff was able to be there as he was going to be out of town. He is also Camilla's primary teacher. After Jeff told us "I cried thought that whole baptism."
At the pool Julie used to carry/still does carry Camilla around because she wasn't tall enough to reach the bottom and be in the deep end with the kids... Somethings don't change....
Lani.. saved us that morning!
Just drying off.
Luke was a greeter at the door until he was held down... after he enjoyed cookies and went back to his greeting.
Kyle, Paty, Saphira, and Owen
Grandpa and Grandma Davis... Grandpa said the opening prayer and Grandma led the singing.
Grandpa and Grandma Webb.... Grandpa said the closing prayer and Grandma gave the talk... and also played the piano for the girls and our impromptu piano singing.
Kimberlin, Lani, and Dylan (the after picture)
Megan didn't want to take a picture with Camilla so we have this to prove she was there.
The sisters.
A standing one with Grandpa Great Allred. We were so glad he could be there.
There was some piano playing...
And I'm so glad that someone mentioned a picture with all of this crew after because for some reason I thought I had done it earlier.
We were talking to the Connells for a bit going to check out white clothes and I saw people turning the corner outside the double doors and didn't know who they were and they were in jeans so I figured they weren't for us and went back to grab something in the other room... Chad was there and caught them close to the door. I came back not too long later and was going to get Camilla's whites that time and Chad said "Britt...." and I turned and realized who it was.... and the tears immediately came... Jen was already crying of course. :) Our sweet Benners came down from Utah and surprised us. Jen said we tried all the other doors in hopes that we could change our clothes before you saw us but everything is locked. The absolute sweetest surprise! I couldn't talk about it all day without tearing up... well as I write this I still can't. Jen said Brandon said we're going and so here we are. Jen kept it a surprise and it was just so good to see them and for them to be there. Landon got baptized 6 weeks ago and they got white crocs for Brandon and Landon and we had talked all week if Chad was ready and he said I just need some white crocs! Jen said well you should have said something. ha. Brandon went and checked on Chad and we just miss them. We always wish we had longer with them but we will take what we can get.
Jen said we need a picture of just them for their wedding album.. and Landon's eyes were so good. ha.
Or just for comparison... and then there were smiles.
We stayed a long while inside and then as we worked our way out we talked with Jen and Brandon outside for a bit while Kristie and Jeff and Webbs talked.
It was a perfect day for Miss Milla. It was a sweet day to see a group of people that love this sweet girl. I love that her smile was big and real and that she knew she had made a good choice. She had so much love and felt it.
So we took our flowers and went home for lunch.
